Something is Amiss

Nathaniel, Milford’s son, apparently applied for something called Equalized Compensation. The document asks for the nearest relative. He lists his mother, saying his father is deceased. The application was received and dated on February 26, 1921. But Milford was alive. His death was in 1925. Something was amiss in this family.
